It is out of the order of how life's sequence was designed to be when children die before their parents. And it tragic when it is a senseless death. A friend of my son was found dead by her mother. That is enough said. With an investigation going on we will soon know more circumstances but some kind of substance abuse is a likely cause.
Life is but a fleeting visit on this earth and is only what we make it. We all have struggles, some more than others, some bigger than others. But I still truly believe that no struggle is worth giving up on.
Always do any job with the best effort possible, whether it is cleaning your own bathroom or completing a task at a paying job. Do it whether anyone is watching or not. Do it whether anyone will ever know or not.Do it because it is the right thing to do.
Do the right thing because it is how to best live one's life and because it is so very crucial for modeling for your children. You can tell a child anything, but words will mean nothing if s/he observes a contradictory behavior in the parent. Be the role model s/he looks up to. Live each moment so there are no regrets tomorrow.
While each of us can come up with a thousand excuses and talking points for not living up to the standard of what is good and just and righteous, we know deep in our hearts if we are falling short of the standard. The important thing is to recognize the standard of how to live and strive for it every moment of every day. If we fall short,or backslide, just keep going.
When a tragedy like this hits so close to home it causes us all to reflect on life and meaning of life and ask all those "why?" questions. No one of us has the answers. But all we can do is take this tragedy and use it for good in some way. I hope that all the young people who knew this young lady, reflect on this and want to make their own lives better, and teach their own children the importance of striving for excellence in all things.
Life is too short not to make this the best journey we can.
